Terms of use

These terms cover the ReadSwift app for iOS and Android and this website. By installing or using the app you agree to them. If you downloaded the app from the App Store, Apple's standard End User License Agreement also applies, and where the two conflict, Apple's prevails for App Store users.

What ReadSwift is

ReadSwift is a reading-practice tool. It measures your reading speed and comprehension on short passages and paces practice sessions. It is not a medical, educational-assessment or diagnostic product, and it does not guarantee any particular improvement. Results depend on the reader and the text.

Licence

Black Box Code LLC grants you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use the app on devices you own or control, under the rules of the store you got it from. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, resell or redistribute the app, or use it to build a competing product.

Free tier and Premium

The free tier includes the baseline test, the warm-up passages and a daily number of graded drills. Premium is an optional auto-renewing subscription (weekly or yearly) that unlocks unlimited training, every difficulty tier and baseline retakes. Prices are shown in the store before you subscribe and vary by country.

Subscriptions are billed to your App Store or Google Play account and renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel them in your store's subscription settings; access continues until the current period ends. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. "Restore Purchases" in the app re-activates a subscription bought on the same store account.

Content

The reading passages are excerpts from public-domain works, with translations prepared for the app. The app's design, code, quizzes and text are owned by Black Box Code LLC. You keep whatever you create with the app (there is nothing to keep: the app stores only your results).

Acceptable use

Do not use the app in a way that breaks the law, interferes with the service, or attempts to extract its content or code beyond what the licence allows.

Disclaimer and liability

The app is provided "as is". To the fullest extent permitted by law, Black Box Code LLC disclaims all warranties and is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from use of the app. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months before the claim.

Changes and termination

We may update the app and these terms. Material changes are published here with a new effective date. You can stop using the app at any time by deleting it; we may end the licence if you breach these terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence are not affected.
